AMERICAN CONSUL TO SAMOA IS HERE

Among the passengers on the Ventura are Geo. Helmrod. of Omaha, the new Consul-General of the United States to Samoa, and his daughter. Miss Dora Heim rod. who acts as his private secretary. He Is on his way to fill his post at Apia, to which he was appoint***! after Consul Osborneā€™s death, the people of Nebraska making a strong plea for his appointment. Consul Helmrod is a native of Germain ami came to the United States at the age of 20. He settled in Oma ha in 1567. and has been prominently identified with the politics of Nebraska ever since. Besides being a member of the State Legislature and Treasurer of his county for two terms be was treasurer of the Republican County Committee during the last campaign. Mrs. Helmrod will remain at Omaha for the present, with two younger children, who are pupils of the high school of that place.
