ITS GROWTH AND ABUNDANT FRUIT. From the breast of millions From the land of one mind From the homes of the free From the green plains of progress From the seat of Christian Light From the shores of the land represented by Stars, From the refuge of the Red, White and Blue From the mountains from whence cometh the ancestors of true soldiers From the top of the everlasting mountain From the sources of rivers innumerable From the store-house of the land with the light-giving stone From the valleys of the wheaten ears From the shores of the land where the corn grows From hence! From hence was brought forth Liberty. For this! For this indeed is the mother of the Brave For this! For this indeed is the father of Equity And upon its soil Was brought forth, ye Sons of Hawaii, "Liberty" It was then brought over the heaving waves of the Atlantic Was wet by the spray of the Calm Ocean And became native-born on the rocks of gold whose light never grows dim In the land of Hawaii, of Keawe its king In the never-to-be-forgotten Summer of 1820. The seed grew, it bore leaf, it fruited abundantly. Kissed by the sun, it thrived, it blossomed It drank of the waters from above It sent forth its fragrance to the soul It is a flower for the wise It is being kissed by the seas It is a store-house where wisdom is collected It is being gathered by knowledge This is the light of life that never quenches It is the tiding of the good Gospel This is Liberty, Liberty, Liberty For this is the refuge of the hosts of Hawaii Fanned by the winds of its clear days The same, ever standing, ever eoming LIBERTY! —G.
