            E ouolu oe e waiho maikai ae i keia mea mua o na lehulehu o keia lahuikanaka, ke hiki ia me ke koena ole.

            Ua ahaaina iho nei ke kula Humeni a ka mea kaulana eopilo Wahinealii, ma kona la hoike, June 27 iho nei.  Aia ma ia la ahaaina, i hanaia’i na leo mele o kela ano, keia ano, ka leo mele e pili ana i ka hoonani aku i ke Akua, na leo mele e pili ana i ke kanikau, a pela aku.

            Aia no hoi ma ia la, ua akoakoa mai na keiki Himeni keikikane, a kaikamahine hoi, a malaila no ke kahukuia G. W. Pilipo, na luna.  Ekalesia, ame na luna apana, aine na makamaka he nui i hiki mai.  A no keia hana i kepuluia e t. Wahinealii, iloko o keia mau la kokoke wale no, ua umeia ku naau o o na haumana a me na makua pu no hoi, e keia hana maikai.  Ua hoike ia keia kula holookoa, iloko o na la hoike kula Aupuni, o ka apana o Kona Akau, ma Kailua, ame Keauhou, na wahi i hoike ai.

            A no keia mea hookahi, me he mea la e hoolilo ana neia hana i mea e hoonani aku ai i ka inoa o ke Akua, alaila makepono ka luhi ana.

            A pau ka paina ana, mahope iho o ka ainaawakea, ku mai la na haumana Pa-ko-li me ke kumu pu, a mele mai la i kekahi kanikau, i kela wa no uwe mai na haumana i ke kumu, pela no hoi ke kumu i na haumana, me ka lulu ana o na lima, a ma keia hana ana, ua umeia ka naau o na haumana i ke kumu, no ko ke kumu kaawale hou aku.

            No na haumana hoi ka uwe haloiloi eu wale mai no ka wai koo lihilihi o na makamaka, ame na hoa o ka lai, oia no oe o ka wai lele i ka pali la, ka waimaka o na hoa.  Pela no ka Pa-ko-li ana, a hiki paha i ka horaeono, ua hanaia na leo mele, ao ia aku i na haumana, noloko mai o kela ano buke Himeni, keia ano buke Himeni.

            A pau ka Himeni ana, ame ka hiolo nui ana o na waimaka.  Ku mai o G. W. Pilipo, a hoike i kona manao, e mahalo ana, ae koi hou ana e hoi hou aku o T.             Eia malalo iho nei ko’u mau manao, a nau hoi ia e lawe aku imua o ka lehulehu, ame na wahi au kanaka a pau, i ike iho hoi ka poe e hookipa ana ia oe.  Ma ke poo o keia kukulu manao ana, ua kauia kela mau hua olelo Niania ame ka Holoholo Olelo.  O ke kumu nae o ko’u manao ana pela, oia hoi ka lohe mau ana i kekahi poe e olelo ana kekahi i kekahi, o mea ame mea ua moekolohe, me ka ike maka ole nae e moe ana, hookaulana wale aku ma kela wahi keia wahi, me ka ike maka ole.

            Ina he Luna Auhau, a he Luna Helu paha, ka mea e lohe waleia me ka ike ole nae e hana ana ma ia hewa, alaila, lana ae la ka manao o ka mea Holoholo Olelo, e hoopuka aku ma na nupepa, i manao ia mai ai he kanaka hewa io.

            E na makamaka, he kumu nui keia a kakou e nana pu mai ai, oiai aole paha ma keia wahi wale no kahi e noho ai o keia mau kanaka, oia hoi o Niania ame Holoholo Olelo, noho aku paha ma ia wahi aku ia wahi aku.  Ina pela ke hai aku nei au i ko’u manao i ka lehulehu, mai Hawaii o Keawe, a Kauai o Manokalanipo, mai hoohalike kakou me lako ula, ma ka lohe wale no, a lilo ia lohe ana i mea e kamailio ai ma ke akea, aole, me ka ike maoli aku hoi o kona mau onohi.

            Eia ka Solomona, “O ka mea holoholo olelo, hookaawale oia i na makamaka.”  E na hoahanau a pau iloko o ka Haku, mai ka la hiki ma Kumukahi, a ka la welo i Lehua, e nana pu mai kakou, ina ua hewa au ma keia mea, e kala mai no, oia kekahi mea e pono ai iwaena o kakou, e kala aku kekahi i ka hewa o kekahi, ina pela, e kala mai no ko kakou Makua ma ka lani i ko kakou hewa.

            Ma ka la 3 o Iulai nei, oia ka Poalima, ua haule iloko o ka mawae ma ka lua o Pele, kekahi keiki kane o Kekaamau kona inoa, ke keiki a Pinehasa Iaua o Keaka, no Olaa laua.  A penei ke ano o ia mea kaumaha a manaonao no hoi i ka nana iho; o ka makuakane oia o Pinehasa, ua hala i kai o Apua; o ka makuahine o Keaka, ua hele oia i ka ohi ohelo papa, ma kahi e kokoke ana ma ka hale hookipa o Nailima; ia ia e ohi ohelopapa ana malaila, me ka manao ole i kana keiki, hahai aku la ua wahi keiki nei mahope ona, ma ke alanui e hele ana ma Kau, ma kahi pali e hooiho aku i Kaauwea.

            Eia kana mau hana maikai a’u i ike ai, 1, o ka mahiai; 2, o ka hoaimu; 3, o ka lawai-a; 4, o ka pii iuka i kau-o wahie; 5, o ka hoaimu maauauwa; 6, o ka humuhumu lole; 7, o ka ulana papale; 8, o ke kuku kapa Hawaii, a me ka malama ana i ka ohana, a me ka hookipa oluolu ana i na makamaka, a me kekahi mau hana maikai e ae he nui wale.

            E ke Kuokoa.—Ua loaa mai ia makou ka mea kaumaha, a eia no ia.  Ua loohiaia ko makou Kahunapule i ka mai iloko o ka wa i kaa hope ae nei, a eia oia ma kahi moe e waiho nei i keia wa.  O ke ano o ka mai, aia ma kahi e pili ana i ke ake paa, a he kunu no hoi kekahi.

            Nolaila, ma ko makou aha haipule, ua hooholo iho makou e noi a’ku i na Ekalesia a pau mai Waiohinu, a Waioli, e huipu mai me makou ma ke noi ana’ku i ka mea Mana Loa, e hoola mai i kana kauwa, i mea nana e hana kana hana ma o makou nei.

            Aia a puka’ku keia leo kahea imua o ka lehulehu, alaila, o na mea a pau i kauia ka hoailona a ke Akua ma ko lakou lae, e ku mai lakou me ka naau i piha i ke aloha, no Rev L. Kahuna Lapaau Hoopunipuni.

E ka Nupapa Kuokoa e ; Aloha oe:

            Eia ma Waiahole, Koolaupoko, Oahu, kekahi Kahuna Lapaau hoopunipuni, o Kamaka kona inoa, o Kaeho ka inoa o kana wahine.  Ua hele mai laua ma Waikane, e lapaau i kekahi kaikamehine mai, o Meleana kona inoa.

            Hele ua Kahuna nei a hiki ma kahi o ka mea mai, olelo aku la i na kupuna, a me na makua o ka mea mai.  “He make ko ia nei i ka makuahine nana i hanau mai, eia la ke ku mai nei, e kii mai ana e hele pu, aole he kahuna akamai e ola ai keia mai o ia nei, a ina ia nei na’u e hana, ola, ke uku mua mai nae i $1 50; alaila pau keia pilikia.”

            Alaila haawi mai na kupuna $1 50, alaila, olelo mai la ua Kahuna nei, “E hoonoho ae au i ka uhane o ka makuahine iluna o ke kaikuaana, oia hoi o Kale, pela ka olelo ana a ua Kahuna nei, ninau aku la ua Kahuna nei i ka inoa o ka makuahine nana i hanau mai o Meleana, hai mai la na kupuna o Kaleihaili ko ia nei makuahine.”
