Language Enrichment Institute Aug. 9-15
The sixth Hawaiian Second Language Institute is scheduled for Aug. 9-15 at the Kalani Honua Conferenee Center on Hawaii's Kalapana coast. This inservice program, whieh has the support of the State Department of Education, is designed for foreign language teachers, linguists and interested community people locally and worldwide. For an entire week the group is totally immersed in French, Hawaiian, Japanese and Spanish. Native and non-native speakers are mixed so that the language flows naturally. The focus is to enrich language and cultural experiences and the purpose is to create an environment in whieh no English is spoken. Master teachers who are native speakers serve as the conversation partners and methods guides. lt is an indepth listening, speaking, methodology skills workshop.
