Dates and deadlines for fall election

July 24 Candidates' deadline to file nominahon papers for primary election. Voters begin absentee ballot requests for primary and/or general election. July 25 Candidates allowed to withdraw from primary for any reason*

July 26 Deadline tofileobjectionstonomination papers for primary election candidates. Aug. 7 Candidates for City and County of Honolulu offices to file financial disclosure statements. Aug. 18 Deadline to mail out absentee ballots. Aug. 23 Close of voter registration for primary • eleehon. Sept. 4 Primary candidatesallowedtowithdraw for reasons of ill health. Candidates for state offices to file disclosure forms with state ethics commission.

Sept. 7 Candidates' deadline to file nomination papers for Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) ānd Board of Education (BOE) elections. Deadline to submit Constitutional Amendment questions, County Charter amendment questions and County Initiative questions. Sept. 8 Candidates for OHA and BOE election allowed to withdraw for any reason. Sept. 10 Deadline to file objections to nomination papers for OHA and BOE candidates. Sept. 12 Candidates file preliminary primary election report with Campaign

Spending Commission. Political parties submit names of poll watchers for primary election. Sept. 15 Voters' deadline to request absentee ballots for primary election. Sept. 22 Primary election day. Sept. 28 Deadline to file complaint on contests for cause in primary election. Oct. 2 Dradline to meet recommended absentee ballot mailout for general election. Oct. 8 Close of voter registration for general election.

Oct. 12 Candidates to file final primary eleehon report with the Campaign Spending Commission. Candidates to file report on use of pub!ic funds in primary election with Campaign Spending Commission. Oct. 17 Candidates for OHAand BOEelections file candidate disclosure forms with State Ethics Commission. OHA and BOE candidates' deadline to withdraw for ill health reasons.

Oct. 26 Candidates file preliminary General, OHA and/or BOE report with the Campaign Spending Commission. Oct. 27 Political parties to submit names of poll watchers for General election. Oct. 30 Deadline for voters to request absentee ballots for General, OHA and/or BOE elections. Nov. 6 General Election Day. Nov. 26 Deadline to file complaint on contest for

cause in General, OHA and, or BOE elections. Dec. 6 Candidates to file General, OHA and BOE report with the Campaign Spending Commission. All candidates file report on use of public funds in General E!ection.

1991 Jan. 30 Candidates to file supplemental report with Campaign Spending Commission on deficit or surplus lunds. March 6 State determines politicaI-party disqualifications. July 30 Candidates to file suppiemental report with Campaign Spendmg Commission on deficit,/surplus funds.

The Campaign Spending Commission requires incumbent office holders to file organizational reports by Jan. 10 of an eleehon year. Other candidates are required to file nrganizational reports within 10 days from the date the candidate or eommittee receives any contribution in whieh the aggregate amount is more than $100 or makesany expenditures.
