Native religious freedom hearings set Feb. 4 at UH
A Congressional hearing on amendments to the Aroerican Indian Religious Freedom Act will be held by the Senate Select Committee on Indian Affairs on Feb. 4 from 5-8 p.m, at University of Hawai'i/Mānoa. The Committee will fae accepting testimony on the bill, whieh was to be introduced Jan. 21, the first day for CongressionaI legislative action. Drafted by the American Indian Religious Freedom Coalition, the bill has been modified to incorporate native Hawaiian proposals offered at a Dec. 15 working session. The revised bill is available through Sen. Oaniel Inouye's Honolulu office. Those desiring to testify should contact Noelle Kahanu at 541-2542.
