Notice of Inadvertent Discovery of Human Remains

NOTICE 1S HEREBY GIVEN that human skeletal remains in a coffin were inadvertently discovered under Austin Lane, next to the former Palama Fire Station, 879 N. King Street, Kapālama, Kona, O'ahu. Tax Map Key 1-5-5. The land is believed to be the former Kaumakapili Cemeterv whieh was in use in the early part of this centurv. The remains have been archaeologicallv removed. Persons having any knowledge of the identity or history of t.hese human skeletal remains are asked to contact Edward Halealoha Ayau, Esq., of the Department of Land and Natural Resources, State Historic Preservation Division, 33 S. King St. 6th floor, Honolulu, Hawai'i 19613 or eall 587-0047. Treatment of the human remains shall occur in accordance with Section 6E-43.6, HRS. Individuals responding must be able to adequatelv demonstrate family connection to the human remains or individuals onee buried in the former Kaumakapili Cemetery. Responses must be received within thirty days following publication.
