Habitat for Humanity helps Maunalaha family build home
Members of the Batalona family and the Reverend Abraham Akaka begin ceremonies to bless the Batalona's Maunalaha Valley home, built by the family with the help of Habitat for Humanity volunteers and a number of church organizations. The Batalona family is just one of many Hawaiian families in the valley that have applied to Habitat to help them improve their housing condition in the state forest preserve. Homeowners in the Honolulu valley have not been able to obtain financing for home improvements because of the area's poor infrastructure. The state says it cannot afford the any new infrastructure.
