A resolution for all of us
WITH JUST one more year to go before we enter the new miUennium, let us take this hme to commit and/or recommit ourselves to the primary work of achieving the betterment
of the condihons of aU Hawaiians. Webegin this new year, the last year of this century, with hopes and dreams of a better tomorrow. The best thing about dreams is that today's dreams ean be tomorrow's reahty. But in order for that to be so, eaeh of us must make our commitments to see the vision through. Eaeh of your nine trustees pledged to work for the people and their eommon goals and onee again we have rededicat-
ed ourselves and our efforts invoking God's divine guidance and assistance. Our governor has pledged a just settlement between the state and the Hawahans. Our chairperson has expressed her commitment and support toward our goals. As we await a similar pledge from our legislahve body, let us pray and hope that this year wiU be that important year where jushce and righteousness wiU prevaU.
As I have expressed hme and hme again, it is my firm behef that the goals we nahve chŪdren of this land seek are goals that are not only good for the Nahve Hawaiian, but goals that are good for aU the people of
Hawai'i. Wehavebeen at this task far too long. The hme has eome to settle the issues, reaffirm our faith in eaeh other, and to revive a sense of purpose, harmony, and strength. We have a good team at OHA, a team of diversity of eommon spirit. It is just that diversity that will produce a strong and comprehensive program whieh wiU create long term solurions to long standing problems.
Every problem has a soluhon but it takes many ideas to create good soluhons. Therefore, let us move forward recognizing the value of eaeh individual while supporring the spirit of cooperariveness and unity. Let us resolve, you and me, to make this the greatest most producrive year of this century. A year of soluhons, healing, unity and the strength of oneness See KEALE
