In 1994, Leokī was established by the Hale Kuamo'o, the Hawaiian Language Center of Ka Haka 'Ula O Ke'elikōlani College of Hawaiian Language at the University of Hawai'i at Hilo. Leoki provides email, discussion groups, chat rooms and file transfers in Hawaiian language only. The latest version, Leokī 5, has just been released and is now available to the puhlie in both Macintosh and Windows. Leokī is mostly used by Hawaiian language programs, such as the Hawaiian Language Immersion Schools, the Pūnana Leo preschools, the Hawaiian language departments of universities and eommunity colleges, as well as various Hawaiian language support organizations. Leokī is very easy to use, and is similar to America Online, except that everything that is seen by the user - menus, dialog boxes, and all information, are in Hawaiian. The range of current users vary from

kindergarten students to university professors. That is how easy yet powerful it is. Provided as a puhlie service by the Hale Kuamo'o and the 'Aha Pūnana Leo, the Leokī client program is free to the user. Macintosh and windows version of the Leokī 5 client software and adobe Acrobat (pdf) files of the manual and operating instructions ean be downloaded from the World-Wide Web at this www.olelo.hawaii.edu/OP/
