Pūʻā Foundation grants

The Pū'ā Foundation, a nonprofit organization that focuses on Hawaiian issues, is accepting grant applications through July 5, 2004. The foundation offers funding for projects that fall within these areas: enhancing the understanding of the historical, cultural, spiritual, eeonomie and political environment of Hawai'i; promoting human rights and fundamental freedoms, with an emphasis on Native Hawaiians; and broadening the awareness of Native Hawaiian sovereignty. Awards generally range from $500 to $5,000. The foundation was established in May 1996 as a part of the Apology and Redress process between the United Church of Christ and the Native Hawaiian people.
