Kamehameha Schools Offers Online Courses for High School Students
'lke Hawai'i Distance Learning Program This program offers high school students the opportunity to leam about Hawaiian culture, history and literature through online courses. Eligibility This program is open to students attending public, charter or private schools who will be in grade 9,10, 11 or 12 in the 2008-2009 academic year. Students in the continental U.S. are eligible to apply. Priority is given to students who are residents of the state of Hawai'i. Students must also have reliable and regular access to a computer with an lntemet connection and must have Microsoft Office software. ■ Apply Now Applications must be su|)tiM((ed by Sept. 30 for the Spring 2009 semester whieh runs from Jan. 26 to June 5. Participating students visit Mauna 'Ala, the Royal Mausoleum, located in Nu'uanu on the island of O'ahu. A huaka'i (field trip) is planned eaeh semester to give students the opportunity to experience historic Hawaiian sites and apply knowledge \earned in their online courses. Fee $50 per course (covers headset, textbookand optional huaka'i or field trip)
