UH-West Oʻahu acquires Don Ho collection
Late entertainer Don Ho's films, videos and personal memorabilia will be housed in the 'Ulu'ulu Henry Ku'ualoha Giugni Moving Image Archive of Hawai'i at the University of Hawai'i-West O'ahu. Archivists are still sorting and documenting more than 150 boxes of mixed-media material that they received from the Donald Tai Loy Ho Trust. One highlight they've already discoveredis "Singerpresents Hawaii-Ho!," the first color television special to be produced entirely in Hawai'i, starring the ieonie Ho. "So far, we've eome across thousands of reels spanning decades of Don Ho's career including videotape recordings of the 'Don Ho TV Show' that aired daily from 1976-1977," says Head Archivist Janel Quirante. It will take more than a year to process and digitize the archive, but after that it will be available for viewing and research by the public through the University of Hawai'i library system
