Kamehameha Students Enjoyed OHA Visit

A September visit to the Office of Hawaiian Affairs by four classes of fourth graders from The Kamehameha Schools resulted in several acknowledgement letters to Wendy Roylo Hee, OHA planning and development officer who hosted the students over a two-day period. A photo and brief description of the visitation appeared in the October issue of Ka Wai Ola O OHA. In their letters, everyone agreed the freshly-popped popeom and juice provided by Mrs. Hee were among the high points of the slide presentation of "Holo I Mua, OHA Moving Forward." This updated version tells what OHA has done

since the office was created by Hawaii's 1978 Constitutional Convention. The students, however, did not lose sight of the purpose of their visit. Among some of the comments selected at random and first names of those who penned them were: "Thank you for inviting us to OHA. I learned a lot about you and I learned about how you help all the Hawaiian people." — Liza. "I liked the slide movie. I learned OHA helps Hawaiian people in many ways." — Makaala. "Thank you for letting us eome to see you. I understand how eome OHA is special. The movie was niee." — Puanani. "Thank you for teaching us what OHA means. You are very kind." — Shaun. "I had fun. The best part was the family because the picture was niee and I learned that the Hawaiians had farms and boats. Also, I learned that not just the HNA (Hawaii Newspaper Agency) makes (publishes) newspapers. You people do, too." — Nalani. "The movie was good. I learned all about what OHA does and what it is." — Chris.
