Hawaiian becomes commander at Hiekam AFB

Brigadier General Dwight M. Kealoha, a native Hawaiian officer in the U.S Air Force, has been named commander of the 15th Air Base Wing at Hiekam Air Base. Kealoha, a 49 year old Honoiulu native, became eommander in a change of command ceremony heid June 25. The general is a graduate of UH-Mānoa and the University of Utah and has heen with the Air Force for close to 30 years. In that time he flew nearly 300 combat missions, a signifīcant portion of those in Viemam. Since becoming an officer in 1973, Kealoha has been stationed on the Air Staff Headquarters in Washington D.C., and at several locations in Europe including Ramstein Air Base in Germany and Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe īn Belgium. Kealoha's responsibilities have ineiuded the U.S. response to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization's Defense Planning Questionnaire and he was one of five Air Force ofiicers selected to serve on the Reagan transition team. In October of 199 1 , he moved to Scott Air Force Base. 111., as commander of the 375th Airlift Wing. His wing was responsible for worldwide aeromedical airlift and operational support airlift. He was promoted to brigādier general Feb. 1 , 1992.
