Health center opens

The Wai'anae Coast Comprehensive Heahh Center held a blessing on Dec. 4 for its newest addition, the three-story, $12 million Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Family Medical Center, whieh will serve as a one-stop shop offering everything from root canals and behavioral heahh services to la'au lapa'au and ho'oponopono. The center also houses a learning center, whieh will offer training and education in heahh for staff and the conununity, whieh is largely Native Hawaiian. A large part of the center's mandate is to care for people whh limited means and the uninsured. "Our heahh center serves 26,000 people a year, and more than half are Native Hawaiians, most of whieh are low-ineome," said CEO Richard Bettini. "We are the medieal home of 14,000 Hawaiians." S
